Three accounting firm CEOs discussed today’s biggest changes and challenges with L&Q members and guests at the “CEO Summit,” the Fall 2011 Ledger & Quill Seminar, held at the Standard Club, September 22, 2012.
Participating in the seminar were three Chicago-based leaders of the profession: Stephen Chipman (Grant Thornton), Joe Adams (McGladrey) and Charles Allen (Crowe Horwath). The three formed a panel to address a wide variety of issues raised by the audience concerning the current economy, the increasing use of social media (both by the firm and individual firm members), contemporary marketing, globalization, and others. Leadership and leadership development were mentioned, not surprising in an audience which skewed, possibly, towards “recent” alumni. A networking reception preceded the panel discussion.
Moderating the session was DePaul’s John Vitanovec, former Executive Vice President of Tribune Broadcasting and past University trustee, now teaching in the School of Accountancy. Both L&Q President Jim Robbs (Sassetti LLC) and School Director Kevin Stevens were on hand to participate in the evening, as well as to thank our guest panelists for their involvement.
“CEO Summit” is the second in our revived Ledger & Quill Seminar Series, which brings to the membership speakers or panels of leaders in the profession and business to discuss timely and important issues. The Spring 2011 seminar, “The Business of Sports,” brought to the membership the CFOs of Chicago’s professional sports franchises for a lively and entertaining seminar on that unique practice area.
The L&Q Seminar Series was an offering of the L&Q Membership Outreach Committee (Bill Razzino, CareerBuilder, chair), with the assistance of L&Q Past President Scott Steffens (Grant Thornton).
